POSTER: This is a poster promoting a CD sampler that represents Brazilian Tropicalia music—a counterculture movement of Brazil’s poor youth in the 1960s and ’70s. Intense colors and layers of textures
create the favela (poor housing) background and reference the rich sounds of the music. My
drawing of the woman symbolizes hope and a strong identity with her roots. The musicians’ names are woven out of the favela background to represent their connection to and voice of poor urban
Brazilians.
