As art director of this national newsmagazine on race and politics, I redesigned the magazine so that it combines the visual language of both culture and newsweekly magazines. Illustration and documentary photography share space in the magazine. With a limited budget and a small staff, I had my hands in every part of the magazine from art direction to photo shoots to design and printing. I was also the editor of the In Focus department which highlights a documentary photograph from a pool of photojournalists that I have cultivated over the years.
